DIY sugar scrubs

Here are some guilt free, low cost DIY sugar scrubs to give out!
*P.S these are all natural too and smell amazing. They leave the skin so soft and smelling so good!
Just package them up super cute and give them away!

Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub

Begin by mixing 2 Cups of Brown Sugar and 1 Cup of Granulated Sugar together until there are no lumps. Add in 1 Cup of Sunflower Oil and 1 Tablespoon of Pure Vanilla Extract. {I like to use Sunflower Oil for this body scrub because it does not carry the strong scent that Olive Oil does}

Mix together well and scoop into a sealable glass container.

*  She used Vinyl, ribbon and a cute scoop to doll up her sealable jar.

Coconut Sugar Scrub

Here’s How-To:
Granulated sugar (just the plain ol’ stuff you already have in the pantry)
Pure Unrefined Coconut Oil (I used Nutiva – it is organic, unrefined, pure)
  • Just use a 2:1 ratio of Sugar to Coconut Oil (I used 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup coconut oil)
  • In a bowl mix the two together completely.
  • Put into a container for use.
  • Just rub your hands and/or feet with the scrub, rinse and dry. They will feel soft as a baby’s bum!
Tip!
  • Sugar scrubs are best for exfoliating hands and feet. I would never use this on my face.
  • Pure coconut oil is solid at room temperature.
  • Unrefined coconut oil smells out-of-this world amazing!
  • I found the coconut oil in the organic foods aisle at the grocery store. (For the Canadian readers, I bought mine at SuperStore.)

    Lemon Sugar Scrub

It is so easy to make. Really! I simply took two cups of white granulated Sugar and mixed in a 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup Almond Oil (Coconut Oil will work too). Add the oil slowly till you have a nice soft consistency that is soft but not too oily. Then add a few drops of Lemon Essential Oil.

Scoop the mixture into a pretty jar.

*NOTE...make pink lemonade scrub by addind red food coloring

Lavender Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:
1 cup sugar or brown sugar
1/4 cup almond oil
1/2 tsp. vitamin E
8 drops rose fragrance oil
6 drops lavender essential oil
Instructions:
Combine brown sugar and oil until it reaches a paste like consistency. Than add vitamin e and fragrance, and store in an airtight container.

Coffee Sugar Scrub

What you will need:
1 C Sugar (white, brown, cane)
5 TBSP Coffee grounds
1/4 C oil
(veggie oil, almond oil, extra virgin olive oil, baby oil…)
1 tsp Peppermint Extract
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Mix:
Mix sugar and coffee.
Add small amounts of oil to the sugar/coffee mix until everything is coated.
(You may not need the full 1/4 C, I didn’t use all of it)
Add any fragrance you like. I chose to use Peppermint and Vanilla and they blend well with the coffee aroma.
Mix well. and You’re done.
If you find it a little watery from the oil, just add more sugar and or coffee.
Cinnamon Vanilla Sugar Scrub

{SOURCE}
1 cup – C&H® Pure Cane Sugar
1 cup – light olive oil
4-5 drops vitamin E oil
5 or 6 drops – of cinnamon essential oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 16oz. – glass container with lid
Combine all of the ingredients in a medium bowl until well blended. Using a spatula, transfer mix into the container and secure lid. Contents will settle, mix before using. Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub on your hands and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin. Leave on for 3 to 4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing. The scrub will tighten on your skin.

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

Take 1 cup granulated sugar and pour into a mixing bowl. Gradually add your favorite Olive Oil or Coconut Oil and mix together until you have a slightly wet, but grainy consistency (really, whatever looks good to you).
Add a few drops of Peppermint Essential Oil. Transfer the scrub to a cute bottle and Viola! Peppermint Foot Scrub.

*NOTE... I've personally made this recipe and used it all over my body! Also to make this pink use red food coloring.

Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub

use as a hand scrub or body scrub}
2 Cups of Brown Sugar
1 Cup of Granulated Sugar
2 Tablespoons of Pumpkin Pie Spice
1 Cup + 1 Tablespoon of Sunflower, Safflower, or Vegetable Oil
Mix Brown Sugar, Granulated Sugar and Pumpkin Pie Spice together, making sure there are no lumps.

Add in oil and mix well. I like to use Sunflower Oil that can be found in most health food stores. Sunflower oil, like other oils, can retain moisture in the skin. {Safflower Oil is very similar to the Sunflower} Alternately, you can use plain Vegetable Oil as well.
{I would omit using Olive Oil wth this one as the scent can be a little too powerful to mix with the warm scents of the pumpkin and brown sugar}

Sweet Sugar Scrub & Label

For your supplies you’ll need some sort of airtight container to store the scrub in. I purchased the metal lid ones you see below at Hobby Lobby for about $3.99 each (that wasn’t the sale price). You’ll also need about 2 1/2 cups of Sugar in the Raw, 3/4 of a cup of white granulated sugar, 4-5 tablespoons of vanilla extract (or coconut, almond, orange, etc) and 1/4 cup of almond oil. You’ll also need those fancy labels you see there and some pretty ribbon, as well as a spoon to mix everything together.

 Mix in your oil and vanilla extract with the sugar and combine until a scrub like consistency is achieved. While I absolutely love how this scrub made my hands feel extremely soft and smooth thanks to the moisturizers in the oil, I have to admit the scrub itself doesn’t smell like anything wonderful. There was a very natural organic smell to the mixture which I think comes from the almond oil but nevertheless it’s a body scrub and in that regard does just that for your body and hands :)

 Have fun making your own scrubs...which one will you be trying?
